40 Year Reunion Information

The plans for a 40 year class reunion
have been finalized.

I just want to let everyone know to save the following dates:

Friday, September 16th, 2011 for a pre-reunion gathering at
Down The Hatch from 6:00 - 11:00 PM

Saturday, September 17th, 2011 for a Cocktail Party/dance at the Amber Room from 6:30 - 10:30 PM

In an effort to keep cost down, we will only be mailing invitations to those people we do NOT have email addresses.

Here is the invitation, which you can download and print out.

Here is the reply form, which you will need to download and print out and mail back with a check.

Please help spread the word to anyone you may know from our class.
Also, please make sure to update your contact information, using our class website. Please be assured that only the reunion committee will see this information.

You are cordially invited to attend our 40 Year Reunion weekend celebration. The invitation and reply form are available at the following link http://dhs1971.homestead.com/40-Yr-Reunion.html
In an effort to conserve money, we are only mailing invitations via the US postal service to those people without an email address. This helps us to keep the overall cost down for this event.
I ask that you print out the reply form and return it with a check as soon as possible. We have deadlines to meet with the various event venues and we also need time to prepare name badges.

Your reunion committee has worked very hard to plan a fun weekend. There is a lot of hard work that goes into pulling off a reunion. We do not gain anything from devoting so much of our time to this event. We all pay the same price to attend. Our only reward is in seeing everyone have a great time. We can do all this work but the one thing we cannot do is make you want to attend. Even if you have never attended a reunion before, even if you believe you won't know anyone or they won't remember you, I encourage you to come to this reunion. What most people found to be true at the thirty year reunion was that it did not matter. We share something very special in common. We grew up during the same years. We were exposed to the same music. We read the same local and worldwide news. We lived in the same city/town. There is much to recall with one another. So, come out and share some memories. catch up with old friends and make some new ones.

It does not matter what you wear. It does not matter if you bring a guest or not. It does not matter if you became everything you set out to be. All that matters is that you join us for our 40 year reunion. Let's listen to the songs that played on the "transistor radio" or the "45 or LP records" once again. Let's remember some former teachers. Let's try to recall the names of our favorite stores or local hangouts. Let's talk about the fun times at the Danbury Fair and the Danbury Racearena. Find out which former classmate now owns one of the famed Chick Stockwell stock cars.

I encourage you to bring old photos of DHS, Danbury, the Fair or Racearena. Old memorabilia is always fun to share at reunions. Most of all, I encourage you to attend this reunion. It is the "40th" and not to be morbid...but how many more chances will we have to come together? Don't let this chance pass you by. Please attend this one. I would like to see the largest attendance ever for our 40th.

Besides the posted events, many of us plan to keep saturday going by a traveling party afterwards. After we leave the Amber Room, we will move on to Jim Barbaries until they close. next we will go to the old Durkin's Diner...now Three Brother's Diner on White Street. If the weather allows, we will venture to the "Town Park." Everyone is welcome to join us.

Also, I ask that you keep me up to date with any address changes or email changes. Finding everyone is a very time consuming task. Please help by reporting any changes to me.

If you have any questions, please contact me. Thanks.
Elaine."
